Richard Hershman opened this spot in 1974 as the first public dining place on Negril's cliffs when it was still a small fishing village. After severe storms destroyed it twice, the place was rebuilt each time.
The name honors its founder Richard, who arrived in the 1970s and opened this location to the public. Today, long-time staff members shape the character of the place and greet returning visitors as familiar faces.
The spot has no entry fees and is reached by a cliff path with stairs and ramps. Plan time for the descent and watch for uneven ground, especially if you want to swim as well.
Two major hurricanes completely destroyed the spot in different decades, but it was rebuilt each time and grew larger. The property today is much bigger than originally, showing the determination of those who run it.
