Yasuragi Hasseludden, Japanese spa hotel in Nacka, Sweden
Yasuragi Hasseludden is a spa resort with Japanese design set in Swedish forest, featuring separate washing stations, multiple bathing areas, and relaxation spaces throughout its grounds. The buildings blend traditional Japanese architecture with the surrounding Nordic woodland environment.
The property began in 1972 as a conference center run by the LO labor union, then was transformed into a Japanese spa facility in 1997. This conversion brought authentic bathing traditions and Japanese design principles to this woodland setting.
The place brings together Japanese bathing customs with Nordic forest surroundings, showing how different wellness traditions can exist side by side. You notice authentic Japanese details throughout the architecture and room layouts as you move through the spaces.
The facility has separate washing and bathing areas with temperature-controlled pools ranging from 34 to 38 degrees Celsius (93 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit). Quiet zones are provided if you want uninterrupted time to rest and recover.
The property features a specialized sleeping sauna kept at 43 degrees Celsius (109 degrees Fahrenheit) with heated stone slabs, a rare combination of Japanese and Nordic wellness practices. This sleeping sauna merges two completely different health traditions in one space.
