Teddy Bear Statues in Lakeside Park, Granite teddy bear statues in Lakeside Park, United States.
Teddy Bear Statues in Lakeside Park are granite sculptures standing behind a wooden bridge near a lake. The collection includes three four-foot-tall cubs and one ten-foot-tall bear figure crafted from solid granite.
Sculptor Jerry Williams created these granite works in 2004, drawing inspiration from bronze bears that previously stood in a shopping mall at North Park. The installation represented a shift toward using granite for public art in the area.
The statues have become a gathering place where families stop to take photographs and children play around the stone bears. Many visitors see them as symbols of childhood wonder.
Parking is available along Lakeside Drive north of the Lexington Avenue intersection. To reach the sculptures, visitors must walk across a pedestrian bridge that crosses through the park.
The main bear sculpture weighs around 20 tons, making it one of the largest granite animal sculptures in the Dallas area. Moving such a heavy stone required specialized equipment and careful planning during installation.
