"Attitude of Gratitude" Mural, Street art installation in Southeast Division Street, Portland, United States
This mural spans about 70 feet (21 meters) along a wall and depicts a woman's portrait. More than 1,000 living plants form her hair, making it an ever-growing installation.
Local artists created this work to turn an ordinary wall into a public art space. The project grew from a desire to bring messages of appreciation to the community.
The mural brings together nature and art in a way that invites visitors to see how living things can exist within city streets. The image of a woman whose hair is made of plants conveys the idea that gratitude and growth belong together.
The mural is located on SE Division Street and is easy to reach by public transportation. Visit during daylight hours to see the plant details and colors in good lighting.
The artwork changes appearance continuously with the seasons and as plants grow. This natural transformation turns what could be a static piece into a living system that constantly renews itself.
