The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is a science museum on the east bank of the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. The building spans multiple levels and includes exhibition halls with working laboratories, a planetarium, and several theater spaces.
The museum opened in 1944 at the Portland Hotel and moved to Washington Park in 1958. The current riverfront site was occupied in 1992 on land that was once used for industrial purposes.
The nickname "OMSI" is commonly used by city residents and has become a familiar term across the region. School groups from all over the area visit regularly and spend time in the workshops and demonstration spaces.
The entrance sits directly on the water and is reached by a large outdoor staircase. Wheelchair access and elevators connect all floors and make it easier to reach every area of the building.
