Emu Point Beach

Emu Point Beach is a protected beach along Oyster Harbour in Albany with white sand shores and shallow tidal flats that give way to seagrass meadows. The gentle slope of the seafloor makes it safe for swimmers of different abilities.

The area received its name during an 1815 survey expedition in the region. George Vancouver had explored the location decades earlier in the 1790s, leaving an early mark on this part of the coast.

The beach serves as a central gathering place where locals enjoy water activities and spend time together throughout the year. Families especially appreciate the shallow waters for swimming and water play.

The beach has parking areas, public restrooms, picnic facilities, and playgrounds near the main entrances. A boat ramp located at the western section serves visitors interested in launching small watercraft.

The eastern end features a fenced tidal pool where visitors can observe small marine creatures when the tide recedes. This protected pool makes it a favorite spot for children exploring coastal wildlife up close.
