Belmont Wetlands State Park

The 549-hectare reserve extends over 4.5 kilometers along the coast, containing wetlands, coastal dunes, heathland, and the Belmont Lagoon complex.

The area transformed from a mining site to protected land in 2006, becoming the tenth State Park in New South Wales through community efforts.

Local volunteers from Friends of Belmont Wetlands Landcare maintain the reserve by planting native species and conducting regular waste management activities.

The park operates daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offering walking trails, birdwatching spots, and designated areas for outdoor activities.

Seven recognized coastal wetlands within the park host multiple threatened species and form the largest single open water wetland in Lake Macquarie.
