Golf de Ploemeur Océan, Links golf course in Ploemeur, France.
Golf de Ploemeur Océan is a links-style course with 18 holes stretching across the Breton coastline for around 5800 meters. The layout winds through terrain marked by gorse and thorny shrubs typical of this coastal region.
Founded in 1990, the course was designed by architects Macauley and Quenouille who integrated the natural features of the Breton coastline into its design. This represented an early effort to create seaside golf while respecting the existing landscape.
The layout respects the local landscape, with holes winding through wild vegetation that changes with the seasons. Players navigate terrain that feels more like exploring nature than following a manicured path.
The course is exposed to changeable weather and requires layered clothing since windbreaks are limited. Bring golf shoes or boots with good grip, as the ground can be uneven and sometimes wet.
Most holes offer views of the Atlantic Ocean, with four holes positioned directly along the shoreline. This immediate proximity to water makes each stroke an experience framed by the open sea horizon.
