Rabbits Island, Islet and park in Songdo, South Korea

Rabbits Island is a small islet inside Songdo Central Park in Incheon, South Korea. It sits in the middle of a manmade canal and serves as a home for a group of rabbits that roam freely on its surface.

The island was created as part of Songdo Central Park, with the idea of giving visitors a place to observe rabbits in a natural setting. Over time, reports of poor care and declining numbers brought public attention to the conditions on the island.

Rabbits Island sits inside Songdo's Central Park, surrounded by a manmade river fed by water from the Yellow Sea. Visitors typically watch the rabbits from boats or canoes, since the island itself is not directly accessible on foot.

The island is visible from the paths of Songdo Central Park but cannot be reached on foot. Visitors who want a closer look can rent a boat or canoe from within the park and paddle along the canal.

The rabbits on the island are neither neutered nor vaccinated, a fact that rabbit welfare groups have flagged as a key reason disease spreads quickly among them. Residents have photographed dead animals on the island and brought the images to local authorities, but no official response has been made public.
