Зоокът Лесковец

Zookrt Leskovetz is a zoo located in a forested area near Pernik that houses a variety of hoofed animals and birds. The facility includes fallow deer, mouflon, pheasants, peacocks, rheas, black swans, ponies, and alpacas arranged in naturalistic enclosures.

The zoo was established near Pernik as a regional sanctuary for animals and became part of the local area's attractions. It developed as a destination for the region surrounding the mining city and complemented other sites in the vicinity.

Visitors can experience direct contact with animals while learning about their behaviors and needs in a hands-on setting. The zoo serves as a meeting point between people and wildlife where both children and adults explore the natural world together.

Visitors should come during warmer months when the animals are most active and the pathways through the forested grounds are easiest to navigate. Wearing comfortable shoes is recommended since the grounds are on a slope with paths connecting the various enclosures.

A white albino wallaby with red eyes lives here and is among the rarest specimens in Bulgarian zoos. This unusual animal stands out immediately due to its pale appearance and attracts special attention from visitors.
