Острица

Ostritsa is a nature reserve in Pernik Province that encompasses different natural habitats within its boundaries. Forests, wetlands, and meadows combine to create a space where many native plants and animals thrive.

The area was protected in 1961 to preserve the natural habitats of the region. This early decision made it one of Bulgaria's older protected areas.

The reserve is valued by locals who use it for birdwatching and walking through nature. Open areas and forest edges come alive during migration seasons when passing birds arrive.
