Зоопарк Хисарлъка, Zoo in Hisarlaka Park, Kyustendil, Bulgaria
The zoo features enclosures distributed across forested terrain, housing native Bulgarian wildlife species and various birds within natural surroundings at the edge of town.
The animal park started in 1962 as a small corner in Doctor Dzhanki area before relocating to its current location in Hisarlaka Forest Park in 1966.
The facility serves as an educational center where local students participate in nature programs to learn about wildlife conservation and animal behavior.
Located near the medieval fortress, the zoo provides free entry to visitors and contains 15 enclosures with more than 50 animals across the grounds.
The zoo maintains its collection within a forest setting next to an ancient fortress, combining wildlife observation with historical architecture.
