Le Camélus - Ferme Pédagogique, Educational farm and petting zoo in Ghyvelde, France
Le Camélus is an educational farm in Ghyvelde with around forty animal species such as ostriches, wallabies, llamas, watusi cattle, buffaloes, and emus housed across different areas of the grounds. The animals live in separate enclosures and grazing areas distributed throughout the farm property.
The farm was founded in 1997 and evolved from a traditional agricultural property into an educational facility. This transformation allowed visitors to learn about ostrich breeding and how farms operate.
The farm takes its name from the camels that have been central to its purpose since it opened. Children interact with animals as part of learning about farm life and different species.
The farm is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays during school periods, so check specific hours before your visit. Wear comfortable shoes since you will walk across the property to reach different animal enclosures.
Visitors receive special feeding cups to hand-feed most of the resident animals, creating a direct hands-on experience. Elevated micro-gardens scattered across the grounds grow seasonal fruits and vegetables.
