Jardin des oiseaux

Jardin des Oiseaux is a bird park and zoo in Le Petit-Quevilly featuring more than 200 different bird species alongside ponies in landscaped grounds. The space contains both designed garden areas and naturalistic habitats that spread across the property, creating separate zones for different animal types.

The land once stood on the grounds of a Carthusian monastery dating to the 1600s, where monks created a wooded area with oak, birch, and lime trees. This monastic heritage left behind mature trees that still shape the landscape of the modern park.

The park functions as a gathering place where families come to observe birds in their habitats and learn about different species together. Children often spend time watching the animals near the enclosures, making it part of the local rhythm of weekend activities.

The grounds are open during the warmer months on specific days and can be walked through easily on foot. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow time to move slowly through the different sections.

The site reuses the mature trees from the former monastery and combines them with modern enclosures for various bird species. This blend of historic trees and new structures creates an unusual setting that feels like both forest and zoo.
