Aran Park, Wildlife park in Bossòst, Spain
Aran Park is a wildlife park in Bossòst, in the Val d'Aran area of the Spanish Pyrenees, set on mountain terrain with large naturalistic enclosures for bears, lynxes, wolves and marmots. The grounds follow the slope of the hillside and include several viewing areas placed along a walking route through the site.
The park was created to give the Val d'Aran a place dedicated to protecting the mountain wildlife that had become increasingly rare in the region. Over time it grew into one of the few spots in the Spanish Pyrenees where these animals can be seen in a protected setting.
The animals on display, such as bears, lynxes and wolves, have long been part of Pyrenean mountain life and local folklore. Watching them move through spaces that resemble their natural surroundings gives a clearer sense of how they actually live.
The park is open from April to October, with longer hours during summer. The site is explored on foot along a marked route, and there is a restaurant on the grounds for those who want to take a break.
The park is home to one of the few wolf groups in the Spanish Pyrenees that can be watched from close viewing points. From these spots, visitors can follow the way the animals interact with each other, which reveals behaviors that are rarely seen in the wild.
