Rhodes Ostrich Farm & Park, Animal farm in Petaloudes, Greece
Rhodes Ostrich Farm & Park is a farmyard in Petaloudes that houses over 100 ostriches along with camels, kangaroos, lemurs, and other animals across a spacious countryside property. The grounds are organized with different areas for each species, allowing visitors to walk through and observe the animals in their enclosures.
This facility was established to introduce ostrich farming to the eastern Mediterranean and expand agricultural activity on the island. The operation later grew to include a wider range of animals beyond the original focus on ostriches.
The facility maintains a traditional Greek approach to hospitality while offering visitors opportunities to learn about animal care and conservation methods.
This facility is located outside the main city and is open daily to the public, allowing enough time to walk through all the areas at a relaxed pace. Wear comfortable shoes and come earlier in the day when the animals are most active and visible.
Visitors can purchase handcrafted souvenirs made from ostrich eggshells, including engraved shells and decorative pieces that make unusual gifts. Some days feature tastings of ostrich meat prepared using local Mediterranean recipes.
