Jeju Stone Park, Theme park in Cheju, South Korea

Jeju Stone Park is an open-air park in Cheju, on the island of Jeju in South Korea, organized around stone formations, sculptures, and displays that explore the island's volcanic and cultural landscape. Paths wind through different sections, where stones of varying textures and shapes are arranged to show both natural processes and local traditions.

Jeju Island was formed through volcanic activity, leaving behind a landscape made largely of basalt. The park was created to make this connection between the island's geological past and its human history visible in one place.

The park displays figures drawn from Jeju mythology, including references to the dol hareubang, the stone guardian figures traditionally placed at village entrances. Stones have long been part of daily life on the island, seen as protective presences around homes and communities.

The park is best explored on foot, and a slow walk through all sections can take anywhere from one to two hours depending on pace. Comfortable shoes are a good idea, as some paths cross uneven ground between stone displays.

Some of the stones on display were never shaped by human hands and are shown exactly as they were found, to highlight what wind and rain alone can produce over time. This makes it sometimes hard to tell which stones are natural formations and which are deliberate sculptures.
