Puy de Lemptégy

The Lemptégy volcano rises to 1019 meters above sea level and reveals its internal structure through extensive quarrying that occurred after World War II.

The volcanic formation dates back approximately 30,000 years and became a significant source of volcanic cinders during post-World War II reconstruction efforts.

The volcano serves as an educational center where visitors examine geological formations and participate in hands-on experiences with volcanic rocks.

Visitors can explore the volcano through guided tours, either by walking or taking an electric train that was introduced to the site in 2020.

The interior of the volcano contains preserved industrial machinery, including scalping screens and grinders that were used for sixty years of mineral extraction.
