IRTRA Mundo Petapa

IRTRA Mundo Petapa is a leisure and entertainment complex in Zona 12 of Guatemala City featuring rides, pools, and slides spread across several themed sections. The facility offers separate zones for toddlers, older children, and adults, allowing families to enjoy different activities at the same time.

The complex opened during the 1980s to provide workers in Guatemala and their families with access to recreational facilities. Later expansions added more sections, including water areas and play zones for different age groups.

The name refers to the Instituto de Recreación de los Trabajadores, an organization that operates recreational facilities for workers and their families. On weekends, visitors from different neighborhoods gather here, and many use the picnic areas to share meals with traditional dishes.

Visitors can access the facility from Thursday to Sunday, with longer hours on weekends compared to weekdays. Arriving early helps avoid queues at popular rides, especially on Sundays and public holidays.

Some of the pools use spring water from the surrounding area, giving them a cooler temperature than typical outdoor pools. The complex also maintains a small nature area where visitors can see plants and animals from the Guatemalan region.
