La Vallée des Couleurs Nature Park covers approximately 450 acres (182 hectares) and features mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and the notable 23 Coloured Earth geological formation created by volcanic mineral deposits.
The park has been operational since 1998 and showcases geological formations created millions of years ago when volcanic eruptions produced mineral-rich magma that cooled rapidly to form the colorful earth deposits.
The park plays a significant role in promoting environmental awareness and eco-tourism in Mauritius while preserving endemic species such as the Pink Pigeon, Paille en Queue, and Cateau Vert birds.
The park is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM and is located along the B102 road in Chamouny, with admission costing approximately 11 euros (about 12 dollars) for adults.
The park features the longest zip line in Mauritius at 0.9 miles (1.5 kilometers) and the longest Nepalese suspension bridge in the Indian Ocean at 1,148 feet (350 meters).
