Mont Choisy Public Beach
Mont Choisy Public Beach is a long stretch of soft sand on the northwest coast of Mauritius, protected by the bay's natural shape that keeps the water calm and shallow. Casuarina trees line the shore providing shade, and the lagoon remains clear and suitable for swimming and wading for all ages.
The area was historically a quiet spot used by local fishermen before gradually becoming a popular tourist beach over time. Minimal development has allowed it to remain largely in its natural state.
The beach serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors mix throughout the week. On weekends, families bring picnics and music, transforming it into a social hub that reflects everyday Mauritian seaside life.
The beach is easily reached from Grand Baie by car or bus with free parking nearby, much of it shaded. Public toilets and wheelchair access are available, along with street vendors selling snacks and drinks, making visits straightforward without special planning.
A small nearby hill with the same name offers walking trails and views along the coastline in both directions, providing photo opportunities from an elevated vantage point. From this spot, visitors can see the full expanse of the beach and ocean stretching before them.
