Nipah beach

Nipah Beach is a stretch of white sand on the northern coast of Lombok with calm, shallow waters that slope gently into the sea. The shoreline borders a mix of open beach and vegetated areas, offering space for swimming, snorkeling, and other water-based activities.

Local fishing families established themselves on this coast generations ago and developed traditional harvesting methods that remain in use today. The beach has grown from a quiet working waterfront into a destination while maintaining its connection to these longstanding practices.

The name Nipah comes from the palm trees that once lined this shore, and you can still spot remnants of these native plants dotting the sandy areas. Locals use the beach for daily fishing and gathering, maintaining a working waterfront feel distinct from more tourist-oriented stretches nearby.

You can access equipment rentals, changing facilities, and food stalls from morning until early evening, with parking available throughout the day. The beach remains accessible and uncrowded most of the time, making it easy to find a comfortable spot for your activities.

The beach is home to a turtle conservation program where local young volunteers monitor nesting areas and observe the hatching process of endangered species. This community-based protection effort transforms the shoreline into a place where conservation work happens alongside everyday beach use.
