PNS Hangor, Submarine museum ship in Karachi, Pakistan

PNS Hangor is a submarine museum ship docked permanently at the maritime museum in Karachi. The interior shows different compartments with original control panels, crew sleeping quarters, and torpedo tubes used during active service.

The vessel served in the Pakistan Navy from 1969 to 2006 and sank an enemy warship in 1971. After retirement it was converted into a museum ship and opened to visitors in 2009.

The name comes from the Bengali word for shark and reflects the multilingual roots of Pakistan's naval history. Visitors today see the combination of technical equipment and personal items left by the crew.

The boat is located at the Pakistan Maritime Museum and can be explored from outside and inside through guided visits. Access is through narrow hatches and steep ladders, which can be difficult for people with limited mobility.

The narrow corridors and low ceilings show how cramped daily life was for the crew underwater. Some rooms are so small that visitors must duck or squeeze sideways, just as the sailors did.

This ship that sailed under polar ice opens its doors

Hallways made of metal so narrow that you walk sideways, beds stacked in groups of three where sleeping seemed impossible, and control rooms where men made decisions in complete silence: enter these open-to-the-public submarines and see what life beneath the sea is like.
