Jheel Park, Urban park in PECHS Society, Karachi, Pakistan
Jheel Park is an urban park in the PECHS Society neighborhood with a central lake and wide paths circling around it. A wooden bridge connects different areas and allows visitors to walk over the water.
The park was created in 1957 by Syed Imam Ahmed and originally had two natural spring-fed lakes. Management passed to the Karachi Municipal Corporation in 1971.
The park serves as a gathering place where residents come together for outdoor time and social connections. Families use the paths and seating areas as part of their daily routines in the neighborhood.
The park is open during two time slots each day: early morning from 6:00 to 10:00 AM and evening from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Wear comfortable shoes for walking the paths and allow time to explore the different areas around the lake.
In 2011, guppy fish were introduced to control mosquitoes through a natural method that continues today. This approach keeps the water ecosystem working while reducing pest populations naturally.
