Ocean Towers, Commercial skyscraper in Clifton, Pakistan
Ocean Towers is a 30-story commercial skyscraper that rises 120 meters above Karachi's skyline, housing retail spaces and corporate offices. The building includes nine passenger elevators and five freight lifts to move people and goods, with five underground levels beneath street level.
The structure opened in 2013 after being redesigned from its original plan as a Sofitel hotel, which could not move forward due to local circumstances. This shift in purpose resulted in the mixed-use retail and office building that stands today.
The building shows how modern Pakistani architecture shapes Karachi's business district, combining office space and shops in a single structure. Visitors can see this approach reflected throughout the commercial area.
The building operates with its own independent 5-megawatt power system and uses advanced heat and smoke monitoring to maintain safe conditions. Visitors will find modern elevator systems and clear access points throughout the structure.
The structure includes five underground levels hidden beneath street level, creating an expansive parking system that is not visible from above. This hidden spatial arrangement allows the site to appear compact while accommodating substantial capacity below.
