Nasla Tower, Demolished residential tower in Sindhi Muslim Housing Society, Karachi, Pakistan.
Nasla Tower was a 17-story residential building in the Sindhi Muslim Housing Society that housed apartments for about 44 families. The building stood at the intersection of Shahra-e-Qaedin and Shahra-e-Faisal, two major roads in central Karachi.
Pakistan's Supreme Court ordered the demolition of Nasla Tower in June 2021 after discovering that the land had been illegally expanded from 700 to 1100 square yards. The building was torn down in 2022 following this court decision.
The demolition of Nasla Tower in 2022 sparked discussions about construction regulations and urban development standards in Pakistani metropolitan areas.
The site was located at the intersection of Shahra-e-Faisal, a central traffic artery in Karachi with heavy vehicle flow. The land is now empty and not accessible to the public as legal disputes continue over its future use.
A senior official from the Sindh Building Control Authority was arrested in July 2023 for approving unauthorized construction plans for the project. This case exposed corruption and negligence in Karachi's urban development oversight.
