Jim Thompson Farm, Agricultural tourism center in Pak Thong Chai, Thailand.
Jim Thompson Farm spreads across a large area at the base of Phaya Prab Mountain, combining rice paddies, silk production areas, and varied garden sections in one location. The layout allows visitors to walk through and observe how different agricultural and craft activities function side by side.
The farm opened in 2001 and builds on the silk production legacy that Jim Thompson had established in Thailand. It was created to safeguard traditional farming methods while supporting the region's economic growth.
The farm demonstrates how people in the Isan region work their land and build their communities through vernacular architecture and seasonal practices. Visitors encounter the rhythms of rural life through hands-on engagement with farming methods that local families still use today.
The farm is accessible during cooler months, primarily from December through January when weather conditions are most comfortable. Wear sturdy walking shoes since the entire property requires being on foot and paths vary in surface.
Since 2009, the farm has displayed art installations by artists from around the world, created specifically for this location. These works regularly shift the visual character of the property and directly merge contemporary creativity with the working landscape.
