Les Jardins du Pays d'Auge, Botanical garden in Cambremer, France
Les Jardins du Pays d'Auge is a garden covering about 8 hectares with several themed sections featuring native Normandy plants, flower gardens, water features, and traditional timber-framed buildings scattered throughout. The different areas showcase various garden styles and horticultural approaches organized across the property.
The garden was created in 1991 on former meadowland surrounding an old farmhouse. The property was gradually transformed into distinct garden sections and later received recognition as a Remarkable Garden.
The site showcases traditional Norman architecture through restored timber-framed buildings where regional crafts like blacksmithing and shoemaking are displayed. You can observe how these historical trades were practiced through the objects and techniques shown in the exhibitions.
The garden is located between Deauville and Caen and welcomes visitors daily. The site has a plant shop selling species featured in the gardens, along with options for guided tours and workshops.
One special section is the Jardin de la Lune, an area featuring silver-leaved plants and reflective water pools. This section creates different visual effects depending on the time of day and season.
