Plage du Liouquet

Plage du Liouquet is a pebble beach at the eastern end of La Ciotat bay with direct access to Mediterranean waters and views toward the Riou islands. The shore extends along the Corniche and is framed by wooded hills that create a sheltered setting.

This beach marks the eastern boundary of the Bouches-du-Rhone department, a natural dividing line that has shaped regional identity since ancient times. This location has influenced local development and trade patterns throughout the centuries.

Local fishermen work from these waters as part of daily life here. Their catch shapes the food traditions that Provence is known for today.

You reach this beach by descending stairs from the Corniche du Liouquet. Parking is available nearby with two free hours during the day and complimentary overnight parking available from 7 PM to 9 AM.

The left section is the only authorized swimming area here, as the right side faces geological restrictions due to the risk of falling rocks. This safety measure shapes how people use the beach and where swimmers gather.
