Ta' Qali
Ta' Qali is a large green space in central Malta with rolling fields, walking paths, and seating areas throughout. The site includes an artisan village with working craftspeople, an outdoor amphitheater for events, a distinctive fountain with climbing stairs, children's play zones, and planted areas with tree species from around the world.
Ta' Qali served as a Royal Air Force airfield from 1943 to 1950, playing a key role in Malta's defense during World War II. After the war, the runways and barracks were replaced with parks and recreational facilities.
Ta' Qali brings together craft traditions and local daily life in one space. The artisan village lets you watch glassmakers, jewelers, and potters at work while shopping for handmade souvenirs.
The park is easy to navigate with multiple entrances, level paths suitable for strollers and wheelchairs, and facilities including toilets and a cafe. The site has open space for picnicking, leisurely walking, and outdoor activities, with ample room for families and groups to spread out.
A sculpture called 'The Ring Figure' by Charles Sammut depicts a man with open arms, symbolizing confidence and looking forward. This quiet monument invites visitors to reflect on progress while honoring where they come from.
