Villa Bologna

Villa Bologna is a Baroque palace with grand facades and Mediterranean architectural elements set across extensive grounds with citrus groves and multiple fountains. The estate includes various interior rooms with period furniture and art collections as well as workshops for traditional crafts.

The building was constructed in 1745 as a wedding gift for a merchant's daughter. It became an important country residence that reflected the wealth and lifestyle of the local nobility.

Visitors can see one of Malta's largest private collections of period furniture and artwork displayed throughout the house. The rooms show frescoes and decorations that reflect how wealthy families lived in earlier times.

The grounds offer parking and organized tours through select interior rooms and gardens. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes as the estate has uneven terrain and many stairs.

Beneath the palace lies one of Malta's largest private air raid shelters, built during World War II to protect against bombing. This underground space shows how civilians tried to keep their families safe during wartime.
