La Casa dels Gats is a small house-shaped sculpture set into a wall on Carrer del Museu in the Ciutat Vella district of València. It has three levels with a real small door, windows, a staircase, a shield, and a fountain, all built to a miniature scale.
The sculptor Alfonso Yuste Navarro built this piece in 2003 as a tribute to the legend of four cats said to have survived the rule of El Cid in Valencia. According to the legend, El Cid had ordered all cats killed in the city during the late 11th century, believing them to be linked to misfortune.
