The University of South Australia is a higher education institution in South Australia spread across six locations in Adelaide, including City East and City West directly on North Terrace. The institution formed in 1991 through the combination of several education providers, including the South Australian Institute of Technology, which traced its roots to 1889. Over the following decades it expanded its sites and programs continually to accommodate growing student numbers.
The two campuses along North Terrace feel like an open part of the research landscape, where students study beside laboratories and medical facilities. The other campus sites shape different neighbourhoods through quiet courtyards and modern building facades, which fill with activity during term time.
