Brisbane International Cruise Terminal, Cruise terminal in Pinkenba, Australia
Brisbane International Cruise Terminal is a cruise facility in Pinkenba, an industrial area on the eastern edge of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. The terminal has two levels and two air bridges for passenger boarding, and it sits along a long wharf designed to handle very large ships.
The terminal opened in 2020 to replace Portside Wharf, which could no longer handle the newer and much larger generation of cruise ships. The first vessel to call at the new facility was the HMAS Choules, an Australian navy ship, in 2021.
The terminal sits in the industrial area of Pinkenba, far from the city center, which means most passengers experience Brisbane only briefly before heading to other destinations along the Queensland coast. For many travelers, this port is the starting point of a journey north toward the Great Barrier Reef or south toward the Gold Coast.
The terminal is easiest to reach by car, and parking is available on site for passengers. Those without a vehicle should arrange a shuttle or private transfer in advance, as public transport options in this industrial area are limited.
Although the terminal was built for commercial cruise ships, its very first visitor was a navy vessel, not a passenger liner. The facility was designed to fit ships even larger than the biggest class currently sailing the world's oceans, which means it still has room to grow as ships get larger.
