Camping Chon du Tarn, Riverside campground in Bédouès-Cocurès, France
Camping Chon du Tarn is a campground with around 100 pitches along the river, offering views of the Tarn and the Cevennes mountains. The facility sits on the grounds of a former orchard at 550 meters altitude and provides direct access to the water.
The grounds were once a traditional orchard in the Lozere region before being converted into a camping facility. This transformation served the growing demand for outdoor accommodations among hikers and visitors exploring the mountain area.
The location sits at the entry point to a UNESCO World Heritage site shaped by pastoral and farming traditions over many centuries. Visitors can experience these ways of life directly in the surrounding landscape.
The campground has two sanitary blocks with ten showers and ten toilets spread across the grounds for visitor convenience. A small shop on site delivers fresh bread daily, making it easy to stock up on basic provisions.
The campground offers dedicated spaces for donkeys and horses, allowing hikers to keep their pack animals safe during long journeys through the national park area. This makes it a valuable stop for travelers moving on foot with animal companions.
