Château de Florac

Château de Florac is a limestone castle sitting on a tuff hill at the town center. The building spreads across several floors with exhibition spaces dedicated to the Cevennes National Park.

The castle was built in the 13th century as part of the Barony of Anduze and was rebuilt in 1652 after damage from the Wars of Religion. Following the French Revolution, it served different purposes before becoming a prison later.
