Château de Grizac

The rectangular castle complex includes a watchtower, agricultural facilities, and a central building with visible defensive elements around its perimeter.

Guillaume Grimoard, who later became Pope Urban V in 1362, was born at Château de Grizac in 1309 and spent his early years within these walls.

The castle houses an exhibition dedicated to Pope Urban V, presenting historical artifacts and information about his life and religious significance.

Visitors can access the castle grounds and buildings between July 14 and August 31, with guided tours available through the local tourist office.

The medieval structure, abandoned in the late 15th century, transformed into an agricultural facility and communal school during the 19th century.
