Champ de Mars

Champ de Mars is a public park in the heart of Colmar with wide pathways and open green spaces. Rows of linden trees line the grounds, providing shade and defining the layout across the central area.

The park originated in the 19th century from a former military training ground and evolved into a central gathering point for residents. This transformation established it as a public green space that continues to shape the city's character today.

Two bronze statues by sculptor Auguste Bartholdi depicting General Rapp and Admiral Bruat serve as focal points throughout the park. They commemorate local figures who held importance for the region.

The grounds offer plenty of seating benches, play areas for children, and remain freely accessible daily without admission fees. The wide pathways allow for easy walking, and the central location makes it simple to reach.
