Orgueil, Restaurant in the 11th district, Paris, France
Orgueil is a restaurant in the 11th district of Paris, set on rue Popincourt in a busy part of the city. Inside, the space is split between a front dining room with baroque touches and a hidden back room that opens onto the kitchen, both decorated with a zodiac mural and soft lighting.
The restaurant grew out of chef Eloi Spinnler’s earlier work in a former bistro space on rue Popincourt, where the kitchen later became central to the dining experience. Over time, a separate evening menu in the back room developed, turning the address into a place with two different rhythms depending on the hour.
The name Orgueil means pride in French, and the dining room shows a playful confidence through its zodiac mural and mix of old-fashioned decor with modern touches. At lunch, the bistro side favors shared small plates that turn a meal into a relaxed conversation around the table.
The restaurant is open every day for lunch and dinner, and the staff can guide you through the seasonal menu if you need help choosing. For the evening tasting menu, ask for the hidden back room, which offers a quieter setting than the livelier front area.
In the evening, a small door near the kitchen leads to a separate room where the menu shifts to five or seven courses, changing daily. During lunch, the chef sometimes adapts a dish on the spot if an ingredient is unavailable, keeping the plate complete without announcing the substitution.
