The Théâtre Artistic Athévains stands at 45 bis rue Richard-Lenoir in the 11th arrondissement. Its pale grey facade leans forward from a wide base to a narrower top, pierced by seven rectangular windows, four on the left and three toward the top centre-right. To the right, a tall glass curtain wall with metal framing rises beside a closed metal roller shutter at street level.

The venue began as a café-concert in the early 20th century and took the name Folies Artistic in 1913. In the 1920s it became the Artistic Concert, staging revues, operettas and vaudevilles. Renamed Artistic Voltaire, it served as a neighbourhood cinema from 1935 until the late 1970s. In 1980 the Athévains restored it as a theatre under the name Artistic Athévains; in 2016 it became the Artistic Théâtre.

The programme is mainly contemporary, with classics staged occasionally. Recent productions include lesser-known works by Carlo Goldoni, Leo Tolstoi, Eugène Labiche, Robert de Flers and Gaston de Caillavet, modern plays by Michel Vinaver (Les travaux et les jours) and Robert Pinget (Ici ou ailleurs), and Molière's George Dandin. The theatre is directed by Anne-Marie Lazarini and Dominique Bourde.

The theatre stands at 45 bis rue Richard-Lenoir in the 11th arrondissement, near Voltaire and Bastille. The entrance is on the street side, under the metal roller shutter beside the glass curtain wall; the sign reads "Théâtre Artistic Athévains". Seating is unnumbered in some configurations, so arriving when doors open helps.

The theatre's name changed again in 2016 to Artistic Théâtre, separating the company from the venue while the Athévains kept its artistic direction. Recent programmes have staged lesser-known plays by Goldoni, Tolstoi and Labiche alongside Molière's George Dandin.
