Tjeldbergtinden, Mountain summit in Vågan, Norway
Tjeldbergtinden is a mountain in Vågan with twin summits that overlook Svolvær, Kabelvåg, and the waters of Vestfjord. The landscape reveals typical Northern terrain with lakes and surrounding mountain peaks.
The mountain was traditionally used by local fishermen and farmers to observe weather conditions and fishing grounds across the Lofoten archipelago. These ancient routes have evolved over generations into the hiking paths of today.
The mountain serves as a gathering place for outdoor activities, where people come to connect with the landscape and experience the sense of elevation over the towns below.
The trailhead is near the Osan shipbuilding yard with parking at the nearby Esso station. Allow 3 to 5 hours for the round trip and bring plenty of water and proper footwear for rocky terrain.
From the ridge, visitors can see three major lakes at the same time: Stor-Kongsvatnet, Madsvatnet, and Karlsvatnet. This alignment of water bodies with mountain vistas is an uncommon feature of the view.
