Casa de Las Cuatro Torres, Hotel in central Cádiz, Spain

Casa de Las Cuatro Torres is a historic building from the 18th century in the San Carlos neighborhood of Cádiz, Spain, made up of four interconnected houses arranged around a shared rectangular footprint. Each house has its own inner courtyard and a triple-arched staircase supported by a marble column, and the whole building now operates as a hotel and event venue.

The building was constructed between 1736 and 1745 by Juan Clat Fragela, a Syrian merchant who had settled in Cádiz and worked in the Atlantic trade. In 1976 it was declared a monument, and in 1985 it received the status of Bien de Interés Cultural, the highest level of heritage protection in Spain.

The building takes its name from the four slender corner towers, one on each house, which stand out clearly against the Cádiz skyline. Each tower contains a spiral staircase leading to a small lookout with round windows, from which merchants once used a telescope to scan the sea.

The hotel sits on a small square near the Palacio de Diputación in central Cádiz, within walking distance of the main heritage areas and shopping streets. The front desk is open around the clock, and optional services such as bicycle rental and laundry are available on request.

The French painter Eugène Delacroix visited Cádiz and made a drawing of this building's facade, showing how much it caught his eye during his stay. The original red ochre painted decorations that link the towers to the cornices are still visible on the upper floors today.
