Iglesia Catedral San Blas

The Iglesia Catedral San Blas serves as the main Catholic cathedral in Ciudad del Este, featuring architectural elements inspired by the natural environment of the Alto Paraná region including red earth tones and forest motifs.

Construction of the cathedral began in 1963 under the vision of Interior Minister Edgar Linneo Insfrán, who sought to create a grand religious monument that would reflect the city's modernization and progress during that era.

Every February 3rd, the city celebrates the feast day of Saint Blaise with religious processions, special masses, and community events honoring the patron saint who is traditionally venerated as a protector of throats and health.
