La Fab., Art gallery in the 13th arrondissement, Paris, France
La Fab. is an art gallery in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, created by designer agnès b. to display her personal collection of contemporary art. The building, designed by SOA Architectes, holds temporary exhibitions across multiple floors, featuring photographs, sculptures, videos, installations, and street art, alongside a bookstore.
Agnès b. collected contemporary art over several decades and previously ran galleries in Paris, including one near the Centre Pompidou. In February 2020, she opened La Fab. on the Left Bank, in a neighborhood that was still being transformed behind the Gare d'Austerlitz train station.
The galerie du jour, a section inside La Fab., is set up like a house where all the displayed works are for sale. The display changes regularly, reflecting new encounters and developments in the art world.
The space is located near the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand and is easy to reach by public transit. Entry to the galerie du jour is free, while the main exhibitions require a ticket; the space is wheelchair accessible.
The building shares its space with a daycare center and social housing units, making it one of the few art spaces in Paris housed within a mixed-use residential complex. Inside, a Moroccan bench covered in zellige tiles stands out as a personal touch that reflects the collector's connections to different cultures.
