BAG_Bakery Art Gallery

BAG_Bakery Art Gallery is a contemporary art gallery with an integrated bakery in the Saint-Michel neighborhood of Bordeaux. The space features rotating art exhibitions and an open baking area where visitors watch bakers prepare organic products throughout the day.

The project launched in 2019 within a restored historic building in Bordeaux's medieval core. Its combination of art programming and working bakery represents a contemporary approach to revitalizing downtown spaces.

The space merges art exhibitions with a working bakery, making creative and craft processes visible throughout the day. Visitors experience how artistic and culinary practices share the same environment and interact with each other.

The location sits in an easily accessible part of the historic quarter with parking and public transit nearby. The glass-walled baking area lets visitors freely observe the bakers' work, so mornings and early afternoons are ideal times to see this activity.

An integrated event space with screening capabilities and seating connects the art gallery directly to the bakery area, hosting discussions and film programs. This hybrid model of shared learning and experience sets it apart from conventional galleries and cafes.
