Suluban Surf Beach, Surf beach in Pecatu, Indonesia
Suluban Surf Beach, also known as Blue Point Beach, is a surf beach in Pecatu, Bali, Indonesia. It features white sand, clear blue water, and tall limestone cliffs that surround the shore, with access through a narrow gap in the rocks.
Suluban Beach has long been known among surfers for its consistent waves, and it gained popularity as a surfing spot in the 1970s. Since then, it has become a regular stop on the international surfing circuit and remains a favorite among experienced surfers.
The name Suluban comes from the Balinese word 'mesulub', which means to pass underneath something, referring to the cave-like passage visitors take to reach the shore. Local surfers and visitors often gather at the cliff-top cafes to watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean.
To reach the beach, you must descend hundreds of steep steps and pass through a narrow rock passage, so wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for a climb back up. The beach is best visited in the morning or late afternoon when the tide is low and the sand is wider.
At low tide, the receding water reveals small pools among the rocks where you can see tiny fish and crabs. The beach is also a popular spot for watching the sunset, with the sun dipping below the horizon right in front of the cliffs.
