Karang Boma Cliff

Karang Boma Cliff is a limestone formation on Bali's southern coast that rises steeply above the Indian Ocean. The rocks form a wide platform with open views across the sea and surrounding coastal landscape.

The cliff served centuries ago as a strategic observation point for the Balinese people to monitor potential invaders approaching from the sea. This defensive role was important for protecting local communities from outside attacks.

Local residents view this location as spiritually important and use it for religious ceremonies with offerings to ancient deities. People come here to express their connection to the sea and the land.

Reaching the site requires a short walk of about five minutes from the parking area via a path through vegetation. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and watch for slippery surfaces when the weather is wet.

A special rock formation at the edge creates an optical effect in photographs that makes the person appear to float weightlessly above the water. This natural frame has made the spot popular for creative photography.
