Pandawa Beach, White sand beach in South Kuta, Indonesia.
Pandawa Beach is a white sand beach at the southern tip of the Bukit Peninsula, where limestone cliffs frame an 800-meter curved bay. The water is shallow enough for wading and the sandy seabed slopes gently into the sea.
The bay was long inaccessible until engineers cut a road through the cliffs. Since opening, the spot has grown into a popular destination for visitors from around the world.
Six white stone figures depicting characters from the Hindu epic Mahabharata stand at the entrance and give the beach its name. Fishermen cultivate seaweed in the shallow waters, continuing an old tradition.
Entrance costs 15,000 IDR for adults and 10,000 IDR for children, with showers and food stalls along the shore. Kayaks are available for rent and the calm water suits beginners well.
The road to the beach passes through a narrow gap carved directly from the cliffs. Steep walls rise on both sides, forming an open-air tunnel.
