Shellharbour South Beach
Shellharbour South Beach is a sand beach in New South Wales that curves gently along the coastline. The shore stretches for a considerable distance with soft sand and calm waves, sheltered by the basalt rocks of Bass Point.
The area was home to the Dharawal people for many centuries, who valued the coast for fishing and gathering seafood. Today the landscape continues to reflect this ancient connection to the sea and its resources.
The beach takes its name from the shells found scattered along the shore. Locals and visitors use this spot as a gathering place for swimming, picnicking, and enjoying quiet moments by the water.
The beach is easily reached by parking on John Street or at the Boollwaroo Parade lot near Shell Cove. Public toilets and showers are available nearby, making it convenient for a full day by the water.
The beach features a natural rock pool on the southern side that is especially safe for children and is patrolled from December to Easter. This makes it a special spot for families seeking a protected swimming experience.
