Plage de la Terriere

Plage de la Terriere is a beach in La Tranche-sur-Mer that stretches for 2 kilometers along the Atlantic coast and is framed by pine forests and high sand dunes. The shoreline features a wide sandy expanse with natural vegetation marking the edge of the water.

The beach was established as a designated naturist area in the 1970s when France began creating clothing-optional zones along its coasts. This arrangement has persisted over the decades and is now part of the established coastal culture in the region.

The beach serves as a gathering place for different visitor groups who meet in designated areas. People spend their time here in separate zones where naturists and traditional swimmers share the same coastline without overlap.

A paved path at entrance 152 leads down to the beach, where parking is available for roughly 500 vehicles and lifeguards are normally present during warmer months. The access is straightforward, and the route is easy to manage for most visitors.

The northernmost beach section in the town offers several water sports including paddling, surfing, kitesurfing, and diving, making it a gathering spot for enthusiasts. Visitors can try different activities without needing to move to another location.
